The header photo is shared between Nova and App, usually it is picked from user’s app, with original photo’s dimension. When display to header, it applies “CentreCrop”, which maybe easier understandable by this two graphs:
It takes the centre of image in the main display area and do not leave blank anywhere.
Screen resolutions are as below but photo resolution depends on which orientation you put your screen on:
Nova 1920 x 1200
Nova Mini 1024 x 600
the header photo dimension in landscape orientation is:
1920 x 387 for Nova
1024 x 280 for Nova Mini
the header photo dimension in portrait orientation is:
1200 x 434 for Nova
600 x 254 for Nova Mini
So the header photo will fit in that area with “CentreCrop”.
Always use a higher resolution photo with dimensions larger than the required size, ensuring the key content is centred. Avoid designing the image exclusively for Nova, as it may also be displayed on the homeowner's phone via the app. For instance, the iPhone 15 has a screen resolution of 2556×1179, and if the image is tailored only for Nova, it may appear blurry on the mobile app.
